Meet Alexzandra Knapp
Alexzandra "Alex" Knapp is a Pittsburgh-born, New York-based artist; a graduate of Joffrey Ballet School's Jazz & Contemporary Trainee Program. Within her four years there, she trained in a range of styles and techniques, as well as being exposed to countless teachers and choreographers. This environment enabled her to find her artistic voice.
Since graduating, Alex has been an assistant to Maleek Washington, Candice Michelle Franklin, and Sekou McMiller. She apprenticed for Elisa Monte Dance in their 2016-17 season. (Chris Brubeck's "Triple Play" at APAP NYC; 'Best Self Project'; Janelle Kroll's "Barricade" music video). Alex has worked closely with emerging choreographer Patrick O'Brien since Spring 2016. (Mare Nostrum Elements' Emerging Choreographer Series, Suite Summer Festival at Socrates Sculpture Park, Seaside Dance Festival in Florida, YourMove Jersey City, Sans Limites Dance). Additional credits include: Levi's/Alicia Keys; Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness' "So Close"; Oh Land's "Cherry On Top"; Panorama Music Festival; Jazz Ain't Dead at the Harlem Arts Festival; Brooklyn Dance Festival; Dance Gallery Festival; Roxiny's live performances at Soho House & Overthrow Boxing Club; Royal Thieves; EMIA; and NYC Carnival Choreographers Ball.
Currently, Alex is freelancing, teaching, and a member of underground art collective FREETHE. Alex is an emerging choreographer herself, currently creating contemporary back-up visual dance for dark pop activist singer, Roxiny.
